No doubt a scam, I've gotten them also.  It works like this.  He sends you a
cashiers check, from a real bank, but the check is fake.  You deposit the
check, which just happens to be for several hundred dollars more than your
asking price, a mistake on his part.  You send the item, and your check for
the overage.  You check cashes, his check bounces.  You are out the money,
he just made a few hundred.  They are usually mailing you from Mexico or
Canada, so nothing the feds can do about it.
