I agree that it does not sound legitimate, but I'm not sure what he's
up 
too.  Getting a name, address and phone number for someone isn't very hard.

I thought maybe he expected you to cash a counterfeit check, and then pay 
his mover in cash.  He'd get the item for free, plus some extra cash.
