As for transfer cases.
I've wanted to put a 242 case behind an AX15 for quite sometime.
I just wish they'd put a viscous or other form of true traction aid type  differential in the 242 instead of the open spider geared carrier!
   I really like the characteristics of the case  in my WJ, IIRC it is a 247? maybe not, It has somesort of viscous or similar coupling in it and is very well mannered on all surfaces, love to be able to put it into 2wd for an occasional tire wasting episode though!
   I've looked and finding a 242HD case for the 04 is not a very easy thing to do, I'd gain 2wd, but loose the viscous coupling of the current case. I guess I could always swap cases every spring and fall...
