  I don't doubt you.
It just surprises me as I thought your car was only experiencing actual floor panel rust.
  Is yours pre "new" floor design? I'm just curious. 
I'd always thought that even pre floor change cars would be pretty stable due to the topd of the firewalls design.
I mean, there is not much there but the floor, which always has had me thinking there must be more support from above.
   I guess I will be more careful in the future if I cut any larger sections of floors out!
