Re: [Amc-list] Sound mats and belts.

Yeah, I have indeed considered the possibility of melt down.
The comparison site I posted also covered this possibility.
That's why I'm mainly interested in using it on the floors.
The one thing I found interesting is that fact that the Fat mat and original dynomat both behaved like ice dam in the oven tests. I have the bubble wrap foil faced stuff. I just can't decide how well a job it will or will not do.
I hate the idea of adding weight to the car, but as it is the road noise at 70mph is atrocious! I know it is 60's tech, with vent windows and drip rails, but I really want to do something that helps as much as possible. It is not a race car, though I would like it to be faster and getter better mpg etc; Wouldn't we all !
I really think at this point something akin to Grace Ultra that has the butyl adhesive layer in the floors under the carpet and very careful cleanup the under side and roll on bedliner for that side.
The front edges of the doors will get a second weatherstrip, probably the stick on type that has the hollow tube shape to it. I hope I can place it to fill the area between the factory weatherstrip and th bottom of the driprail. I seem to get a good bit of wind noise that as near as I can tell comes from that area.
With any luck these will bring the noise level down to acceptable limits and I will be able to listen to the stereo without making my ears bleed.

Anyone use bubble foil under carpet?
