Re: [Amc-list] LPG 258

I just remembered that Matt Kievit here in Michigan adapted Ford 2300cc Pinto pistons into his 258, with a 258 head for a serious compression ratio.  He was running around 0.035” squish between piston and head.  It was a really sweet motor.  He had the ford pistons machined out to accept AMC wrist pins.

The 199 flat tops or 290 flat top pistons would be good.

A lot less milling if you slip a set of flat top 199 pistons in there first!
I think we spec'd out about 10.5-1 with the 199 flattops and a 4.0L head in
basically stock heights.

I believe you can use a chevy 250 six piston in a 4.0L block to get around the
11 or 12-1 range too.
Again, not positive of the exact needs to accomplish this. But heard it is
doable.
