In my album is one means of doing the troughs different.
I still ended up with a trough due to my miss calculations! Tube hsould be lower in the rear to avoid a trap tiliting towards the fender/ Note the rear placement of the tube is outboard to keep it from becoming a spear of death should the car ever get involved in a frontal collision. This way should kick it out through the door should it br forced rearward.  All the mounting and surrounding steel is 16 gauge.
 It's alittle bit better than the original. I have ABS sheet I will fabricate splash shields from when/if I ever get to it!

Since it's intended use will be as a fair weather cruiser, I may just leave it and hose the mess out once in a while!
