Re: [Amc-list] Nice Shoe Box Rambler Convert In Rod & Custom

I subscribe to R&C and got my latest issue last night. This is the DEC issue, same one Doc is referring to. I was surprised to read that except for the paint, a little lowering, custom tail lights (only a small pic of front though) and tires/wheels, it's pretty much stock. Top is a tan, which wasn't a stock color, so I guess you can say that's not stock too. Nice looking car, glad to see it caught someone's attention! Owner is Gary Hoffman, builder Mike Wolverton, show was Goodguys PPG Nationals at the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus in July. Don't bother to go to the R&C site for more photos, there are no more of the Rambler (I looked!).

I also sent an answer to Kev Elliot in the "Wrenchin" column near the back (Elliot answers questions... or tries). Someone asked if he knew of an aftermarket intake for an AMC 327 V-8! The writer mentions something about an Edmunds intake, but the only one I've ever seen is for the Nash L-head six from them. Elliot recommends looking for a Fenton, since Fenton bought a lot of Edmunds tooling when Edmunds stopped making them. I wrote stating I'd never seen or heard of an aftermarket intake for the GEN-1 AMC V-8, just a few aftermarket cams (Isky and Lunati made them in the 50s, maybe others) and header flanges available from "Headers by Ed". Told him a bit about the GEN-1 also.

In the latest Rod & Custom I just received there was a nice shoe box Rambler American convert. It was a burnt orange with a tan top with Cragar spoke style wheels. It said it was a dealers car and was basically stock. But what a sharp looking little car. I have a couple of those AMT Slammer model kits. It would make a sharp addition to my AMC model collection. You guys on the AMX Files with this style car should check this out.
