That would be a big yes, none of the additives have been shown to do much of anything except drain yer wallet and clog O2 sensors on newer engines!

I have run old and new cars for many years on the fill up the tank when it is empty and change the oil every 5K. [checking fluids, filters along the way of course]
I've not ever had any early valve failures etc; except for a mid eighties chebbie 4.3L V6 in a boat!  Those things had the softest block known to man, well except for the Vega engine! 

By early valve failures I mean needing a valve job before 75K or so on the old engines. New engines? Well our 98 Altimas Odometer stopped in January at 139,500 and it still runs a 5k oil change with a full oilpan and no useage or smoke.
  At least I think it's a 5K oil change as I'm just guessing now! Anyone know if an OBD II scanner will show odometer reading on a 98 Altima? Be nice to have means to check it.
