I've been told this was a common problem, and I'm wondering if you have any advice. I've found a trick online that says to take out one of the head bolts and grind a section down on a lathe and re-insert it. This is supposed to allow more oil to pass at that point. I was also thinking about running an external line out and then back in at the top to a brass tube inside the head with several small holes. Just wondering if you would have any advice

That was a well-known problem; in fact it was so well-known that AMC actually sold and external oil line kit to correct the problem.

I will try to find the P/N for you; there may still be a dealer or three that still have one laying around. They're not complicated; just a few feet of copper tubing and some fittings.
