I would agree with you Mark,  the trouble seems to be that Ambo's aren't
getting the interest that the other cars are. I do know a couple guys who
have Ambos that they found and are keeping them because they are collector
guys. When the value of AMX's, Javelin's, Machine's and SC/Rambler's gets to
be way up there, people will begin looking at the other cars with a more
appreciative eye. Now if the AMBOs and Hornets and Matadors can survive
until then is another question/problem.
If this will console you at all, I used to, and I'm sure others have too,
part out big boat GM cars too, just to put that 396 into a Camaro or
something, so it isn't just occurring in the AMC hobby. Thing is, now those
big boat GM cars are worth more so they survive a little better. Mopar is
the same way. So is Ford. All of them have been through the routine. If you
read Car Craft, they always talk about grabbing engines out of salvage yards
from big cars to take home and put in muscle cars or whatever.

it's a shortsighted way to particpate in the AMC hobby and in all
probability will shorten the life of the hobby in the long run.
