Re: [Amc-list] Distributor issues

I guess anyone can twist the truth. It happens on the internet lists all the time. It is easy to make claims. I do find it hard to believe " A stock
electronic distributor is just as good as long as it's in top condition.
The only reason to buy one of the billets is so you'll have a nice shiny
new one -- not much changed in the technology." Have you run a stock distributor to 7000 RPM's ? I have with quite a few and have found only the MSD to be truely trouble free. But that is just my experience with the stock and MSD dizzy's.

The MSD6AL only uses the points to trigger the ignition. Since full
voltage doesn't go through them they will last nearly forever and not
burn down like a traditional points distributor. The MSD is basically a
multiple spark discharge (why they call it MSD in the first place!) CDI
electronic ignition. It can use electronic triggers as well as standard
points. So in effect amxron is recommending an electronic conversion.
I don't see the point in the billet distributors either. A stock
electronic distributor is just as good as long as it's in top condition.

tuned right for what you're doing is usually just as good as a new one.

Please refrain from making comments that could be taken personally! How
would you react is someone told you you must be too old to appreciate
new technology? That's not exactly what you said, but it could be
interpreted that way.

I can't believe some one thinks points are better then electronic
ignition. This person must be in his 60's and uses what he knows.
