Well that's likely it --if it's 1/16" or less you could file it clean
and fill it with JB Weld, then file flat.

Permatex won't harden in under 20 years, no point waiting that long :-)
But, if it doesn't leak, it doesn't leak (though I would not trust it).

** IFF (surfaces are flat) THEN it will not leak. Period. 'cept
for cracks... :-)
