I'm for butanol as a fuel source too, if Dupont and
others can make it available at a reasonable price.  
However, I thought I'd make the case for non-corn
ethanol too.  I am an environmental professional and I
would like to point out that there are major efforts
underway right now to produce ethanol from other forms
of cellulose and starch including from municipal solid
waste.  There are plants which will go beyond the
pilot scale in the next calendar year to use municipal
waste as a carbon source for ethanol.  I assume the
technology could be converted to produce butanol in
the future if the bugs can be trained properly.
