[Amc-list] Polishing plastic lenses

Back when I played around with a lot of plastic models, I learned the easy thing to clean up scratched model car windshields -- TOOTHPASTE! It works great on lightly scratched plastic lenses too, especially speedo lenses. If the scratches are too deep for toothpaste to work out use plain old polishing compound. It works for paint, will work for plastic. Fine steel wool will work, but you will have to use rubbing, then polishing compounds and finally toothpaste to get it buffed back out after steel wool or 2000 grit wet sandpaper.

Ken; Meguires (Sp?) makes a real nice plastic polish
that is easily available and affordable. The jobber
shacks have the good stuff, but they are more spendy.
i use the Meguire stuff every time I clean up a used
set of lenses.....Russ
