I'm not so sure I understand why you think a stock plate will break???
I have driven and worked on AMC's since I was 10-12 years old and I can probably count the number of flexplates I have replaced on both hands...

Oh, yeah, I'm 46 years old and was a dealer tech from 80-90 at AMC/Jeep dealers.
My dad is a mechanic at Tewells in Uniontown, Pa an ex AMC Rambler dealer since 1954.

I'm not saying an SFI plate is a bad idea but for street Jeep. saying he definitly needs one is a little extreme.
