This appears to be the factory 1955 "LeMans" head from a Statesman. Fenton, Offy, and Edmunds all had their name cast into their heads. I've only seen an Edmunds for a 196 before, not sure if Fenton and Offy made one, but all their other make heads have their name cast into them. Assuming it's the factory head, compression is 8.0:1 and the original carbs were Carter YH. The ones shown with the head appear to be newer Carter RGS models, as found on late 60s L-heads. The linkage on the cleaned up one is definitely AMC, the other one has a different linkage setup. If anyone buys this thing note that you'll have to check the carbs well -- the jets MUST be the same in both or one end of the engine will run lean and eventually burn a hole in a piston. I found out the hard way, no point in any of you doing it too!! Of course you'll have to make a linkage system, but that's not as difficult as it sounds. ------------- Date: Thu, 21 Feb 2008 14:13:51 -0800 From: "Thomas Garner" <Tgarner@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Thought this was really cool to have if you have the 196 flat head. Since I've had bad luck sending URL's, I'm just emailing the ebay ID.
