Jim,
I'm sure someone has.  The 4.0L piston has the same C/D as a 304, just the larger bore. Rick Jones here in our MI club, who will help build up my engine, suggested the 4.0L piston.  I just can't run it with the 390 crank and rods due to the larger 390 1.001" pin bore in the rod and I don't want to bore my block out to the max, since one cylinder is sleeved.
