[Amc-list] Gas tank nice and clean inside - prep and paint outside

Thanks Glen, yes that was the name I was thinking about renuing the gas tanks.?I may try to use them, on a used and new pacer tank I have, in order to protect if for future use. I wonder what this new ethaol blend gas does to the RENU product in the tank.? I do not recall the DRB about the rubber bumper you mention. I do recall the complaint and DRB for fuel odor- top of tanks would develop pin holes/perforation from the? round felt insulation pad? put on the top of the tank, it got wet and held the moisture to cause the tank top to perforate. I think all the models with EQI - extra quiet insulation package and maybe any pacers had that. There was also problem with noisy gas tanks where the interior baffles were breaking off and clanging inside the tanks- the tanks had to be replaced and if the felt pad was still there, they were told not to replace it from what i recall of 30+ years ago.
Regards, Ken.

I know of a franchise operation called Gas Tank Renu; is that what you are thinking of? They have franchisees all over the US; mostly radiator shops. <http://www.gastankrenu.com> One of the Pennsylvania shops, Moyer Fuel Tank Renu, restored the tank for the Charity AMX. <http://www.gas-tank.com>?

Regarding Pacer gas tanks, there was a DRB covering a thumping or "oilcanning" sound where a rubber (I think) isolator was to be glued in the middle of the top of the tank. This must have been the replacement for the original sound absorbing pad. (I have a copy of the '77-82 repair bulletin compilation book.)?
