This is good to know...  DHL does allow larger parcels...  Thanks, Joe.

It says they allow up to 108 inches long and up to 130 inches maximum girth.   But their volumetric weight is based on 165 or 166 cubic inches per pound so they may charge your for a bit more weight (about 15%) than it would be via FedEx.    But it should be a better alternative to the regular trucking charges for large parcels.

So you have to know the actual measurements and the actual weights and the zip codes or specific locations for pickup and for delivery  then you can check out cost using their web based programs posted at their web sites.

  Greyhound is probably your best bet, price wise.  If
  you are dead set against Greyhound, try DHL ground. 
  They accept larger oversize items than Fedex and their
  prices are a little more reasonable I have found.
