Re: [Amc-list] v-8 intake manifold suggestions

EGR is something you want on a street vehicle. You need a working
temperature controlled vacuum switch (and a good valve) since it hurts
performance and driveability on a cold engine. The EGR valve cools the
combustion chamber slightly (exhaust gas doesn't burn much) which
reduces pinging. On a performance engine, this lets you run more
ignition advance or higher compression. On an emissions turd like the
305 in my El Camino, it lets it accelerate up hills without sounding
like a yard of gravel in a cement mixer. Another benefit of EGR is
engine with it usually have an exhaust passage through the intake
manifold which helps with cold driveability.
