[Amc-list] Bonneville

Hey, I realized I mis-read your post re: a "navarro type" motor... my bad!

I was looking at the Navarro motor and realized that he made a fairly small
number of changes to the block and head (some extensive...) and that alone
could be documented.

A quick rundown; this is the 550hp motor with a big truck turbo, 30psi? So a
lot of the trouble areas are related to that.

This is a stock 199 block and crank.

Block mods: nearly zero. The oil passageways that feed the rocker shaft
assembly are bored out larger. Don't know how much larger, but it definitely
feeds the rockers through the stock passageways, NOT a separate external
line.

No, zero, bottom end changes, possibly he did the double-grooved-halfs bearing
thing John Elle suggests.

Probably stock oil pump; I have some funny oil pump parts but I think they
were for the twin turbo motor.

Stock crank, but they're cast steel for the 199.

Dry sleeved the bore down from stock 3.750" to 3.595" (182ci). This would be
expensive, but it was for insane boosts. #1 cyl wall at the water pump hole
is .44" thick! Could probably skip this for lesser boosts.

Top of block is O-ringed. $$$ for insane boosts.

Cylinders clearanced for ridiculous valves (huge).

The head:

Gigantic (over 2") intake valve and port work to match it.

Huge exhaust valve, but you can tell this was a problem area: the valve stem
is nearly 1/2" diameter, huge, and there's a 1/8" approx. hole angle-drilled
into it half way down, to feed oil down the stem. There's probably more
subtleties in this area I'm missing with a quick look.

Center exhaust ports de-siamesed with a plug.

Head O-ringed for insane boost.

Stock rocker shaft and rockers! Stock-looking spring setup, but who knows
what's in the box of parts. I believe this engine was run over 6000.

Funny camshaft, solid lifters, adjustable pushrods.

Umm, custom cast stainless steel (not magnetic) manifold for a T-04 or TE-06
turbo.
