Well at least sitting and listening won't damage your
shoulder, unless perhaps you want to break dance to
the music.

Regarding zinc fumes:  There are welder's masks which
will protect you from common welding fumes so I
wouldn't worry about welding on coated metal.  3M
makes one type of such mask, which our maintenance
guys use at work.
