My experience is similar, 1971 Javelin 304 auto 2.87:1 rear axle ratio. Stock in every respect except for GM spec G70R15 on Rebel Machine wheels. We were driving a little slower in the mid seveties due to the National 55 mph speed limit and got 20 miles per gallon highway. And with great performance.
