This story is just too darned sad,er,uh,strange...
Even in 1957 they should have known what would happen to bunch of metal stuck in an unventilated concrete bunker for 50 years! 
I have to keep a humidifier running in my partially underground workshop or rust starts attacking things.
Did they say how much was in the savings account?
The winner will probably need to use that money to disspose of the hazardous waste they just won!
I can only imagine how bad that mess must smell!!!
