Another thought, SOLID pushrods, geez no wonder the lifters get weak after 30-40 years! 
Why do think they went that way?
I guess we should add hollow pushords to the wanted list.
You used to be able to buy kits to make your own, cut the tubing to length and press the tip in. I don't know how good they worked though. 
  I fyou find a source for them let me know. I'll be getting a set too!
