Ken, you can bolt the CFI unit directly in place of the carb. I didn't know that until Jeff chimed in though. After that, you need everything associated with the EFI system. The good news is there are no injectors and associated wiring to mess with -- or rather it's all combined into the TB wiring. You still need to get all the sensors, relays, and computer. It may connect to the ignition -- I haven't looked over the Ford system enough to know right off, but it likely controls timing as well. The ignition box may be the only difference, you'll have to research a bit. A wiring diagram for a 85 or so T-bird w/5.0L CFI would be the place to start. But you will need the electronics. Most of it is pretty self contained though, it's not as hard as it sounds. --------------------------------------- Message: 7 Date: Sun, 25 Mar 2007 14:00:48 -0400 From: ksiroonian@xxxxxxx hey jeff- how are you? so on this post do you mean that if I can find one of these fords, then I can replace the carb on my 79 pacer v8, or 74 ambo 360 v8 with a throtle body carb. is it hard to do, or very complicated? what does it connect to electrically, the existing motorcrap ingintion module? just wondering how is works and is controlled. I know my 83 alliance had the TBI but really not sure how it all works. regards, and thanks, ken. boston -- Frank Swygert Publisher, "American Motors Cars" Magazine (AMC) For all AMC enthusiasts http://farna.home.att.net/AMC.html (free download available!) _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.amc-list.com/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
