Exactly what is wrong with being thrown a bone?

Sound to me like your getting your panties in a wad over nothing 
here.
Respect? Bah, humbug. I just read something that had an un reverenced
quote in it. It went something like this.

If I am what I own
What am I if I loose it???

Same goes for magazine coverage.
Do we really need them to tell us our cars are nice or cool or 
bad???...

Who's With ME ?!!???




I came to AMC via my first car:

a 1956 Packard Clipper Super Coupe dressed
as a 'Skunk' > white with a Black Stripe.


This "hey,..... what is it" Shark Finn'd car led me to the Designer
Richard Teague - one 'FrEak' searching for the UniVeRse via
rubber doughnuts.....and a sketch pad.

One snowy evening I saw what appeared to be a 
small 'Blimp' under a blanket of snow at the Sunoco Station.



Turned out to be a 1950 HUDSON Commodore 8 sedan -
which, after I finished reincerting my eyeballs - I bought
and attended the street racing events in - "hey...... what is
that Tourville ?.........." -  <<GRIN>> ;)



tHAT led me to the 1972 AMX - which led me to the GREMLIN
KaMp and my EAGLE series50 Kammback........ "wtf is THAT ?....."




I don't WANT main stream!  I didn't COME here to be main stream!




I WANT 'Odd-Ball' status - only because it recognizes how U'nique'
these Designs are - and that does it for me  -
that 'certain je ne sais quoi' ........ hey - hey..... did I get it 
'Right' ?



Yes - RWB M'achine' cars are now FORTY THOUSAND DOLLARS......
does this impediment to ownership 'Qualify' the car in some way - 
'Legitimize' it to a standing
that allows one to hold their chin just a few degrees higher as
'having A'rrived' ?


Arrived ?  Arrive where ?   .......'well......if you have to 
ASk.....I'm quite certain YOU  don't knOW!..'


A'rrived' -  drives the prices up and pushes out the U'nique' people
who were drawn to the U'nique' Designs making the overall
experience especial' > OUT < the NEW UNIQUE PEOPLE came
because they were at a loss - saw US - and BOUGHT US OUT TO BE 
US!@!~~



- not knocking folks with
'extended disposable incomes',  but your 'not right' to be
here in the FiRSt place, so........ glad you made it !.



Yes - yes, I read the replies........ higher pricing for the vehicles
is a result of higher demand for scarcer resources - fewer cars -
and in some magical way, someone will then generate more spare parts
for these vehicles IF YOU'VE PAID THRU THE NOSE to start 
with........??        well, ...




If a person saves an AMC - pays $150.00 for the car initially, and
needs parts, they'll buy the parts from whoever has them.



If a person buys an AMC for $40,000.00 , and needs a part,
they'll buy the parts from whoever has them > Si ?



I rest my Case counsellor.



Am I thrilled when I can't buy a second Kamamback since 
they've now been D'iscovered' and pull down prices in
the THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS ?  

from the stand point
of an involved AMC Owner / Enthusiast  ->> NOT INVESTOR <<  ?

Might more AMCs be salvaged if the prices were more prohibitive
- not allowing those lo-buk Genuine AMC Enthusiasts *Tweakers*
to enter the Hobby ?


You'd have professional eBay 'rs combing the hillsides perhaps,
but you'd lose the Heart and Soul of what does make the AMC
Ownership Experience what it is >>:

or...... how they'd like to 'pull out their dashboard & install one 
of the AMC

"EYE-BALL"  'PODS" in place of.........in their
STATION WAGON ........that they'd installed a complete JAG REAR 
into....

or of hanging a junK YarD TurBo under the car - as a little
spick me up' when passing Traffic...... [RM]



or 'Researching' using a USED CAMSHAFT with Bargain Basement

Say!  How is that SWISS Chalet of Yours doing anyway ?

Get a fresh coat of Whale Blubber on the Roof Thatch yet ?  Might be
