[Amc-list] t14 t96 swap in '63 american convertible

Hello AMC fans,   I recently purchased a t14 trans to replace the t96 trans 
in my 63 american convertible. I have been told that this is supposed to be 
a direct swap (on the bellhousing side anyway). But I have noticed that the 
pilot end of the shaft is considerably longer than on the t96. Is this a 
problem?  Do I need a different pilot bearing?     THANK YOU very much,
