Okay, let me clarify: 62 is the ONE year the Rambler CLASSIC didn't have
a V-8!!

Should have made it clear I was talking about the Classic -- thanks for
pointing the error out. 

The 250 was dropped after 61, making the 327 the only V-8 available for
62, and it was still exclusive to the Ambassador. Dealers raised... a
fuss over this, so the 287 was a mid year 63 addition for the Classic
only.

Huh? Tell that to my 62 327 v8 Ambassador 400!

There was no year AMC after 195x that didn't have a V8 available
in the larger chassis... OK until the 80's...
