jim's right. if you're lucky the tranny will bolt to your bellhousing
but that's as far as you'll get.
i know of only one tranny in the last 40 years that has a separate
tailshaft, the gm saginaw 3sp/4sp. anything else, you have to change
the mainshaft in 4wd-2wd conversion.
what year is your car? nearly all '75-later amcs used a ford
toploader 3sp, common on fords from the mid '60s through the '70s.
also if you have a floor shifter, a short shaft [most common] 4sp
toploader is a straight swap, no driveline changes.
i'm amazed you could trash a toploader. they're pretty tough.
