Now I know you guys and gals are saying I am cruel for not assisting but I am laughing, inside of course, my fool head off at the sight of a grown adult being trapped by a two foot patch of grass, in the middle of the city. Finally an appropriatly dressed woman comes over to assist and my fun is over. I bought this car from a neighbor who had purchased the car as a parts car for his 1963 Rambler convertible. He never pulled any parts off it and he moved to Hawaii recently. He plans to move the little pink convertible to Hawaii soon, but had to leave the hardtop behind. The car is a 440 hardtop and was originally frost white including the top (paint code 72). It has a light blue interior, buckets seats, console and twin stick transmission. It has the two-barrel WCD carb and has a remanufactured short block 196 engine with a tag on it that says POWER-PAK. The car has brand new radial tires (185-60-15) which look kinda wierd on the car. It has a really bad beige paint job which I can only assume was put on the car to protect it. The paint is flaking badly and there is no evidence that the frost white paint was ever even sanded before the repaint. In other words the car looks doggy, but is all there. There are some bubbles in the paint on the lower rear heels of the front fenders which I assume is rust starting there. The car runs, but needs the carburetor rebuilt. I have a rebuild kit ordered for the carb. The chrome is in OK shape, with some scratches on the bumpers and some pitting of the ornaments. The interior is in fair condition and could be used with only a clean-up. I do have extra Rambler station wagon 15 inch wheels and new (larger size) tires which can go with the car. The glass is all good with no cracks or broken panes. The car is currently registered so there are no back fees due to DMV. I am asking $1000 before I spend any more money on this car. Because of its condition and completeness (and relative rarity) I think this would be an excellent project car for someone new to the hobby. I can transport it up to say 500 miles on my trailer for $.60 per loaded mile. I usually bought model supplies for 2 years at a time previously. The mail order place I bought my dry transfer letters and supplies from for 15 years went out of business. I am not a modern internet person but since I had a partial sheet of rub on letters I bought 4 years ago I was able to contact the Mfg. directly and order what I need and get a "PAPER" catalog and at the same time order a sheet of the letters I need to finish a custom project on my orange 1:1 Hornet. I need to letter the cap of the billet radiator over flow tank cap and the adjacent custom modified from a billet over flow tank into a billet windshield washer tank to replace the old horrible old yellowed plastic one. Anyone needing any info on this place E-Mail me for the info. Nothing like a little bit of subtle factory looking detailing. It has the EGR pipe like the carbed manifold (if you don't retard your cam, it'll ping like crazy or the knock sensor will keep timing heavily retarded) The HO EFI system is what makes more power over the Renix. The throttle body is larger opening and the injectors are larger plus the cam retarding (done through the timing gears) pushes the power band higher, increases the HP and torque peaks. The rest is done through the port design of the head (raising them so air is directed in a straighter flow at the valve opening) That is why the upgrade of the last intake manifold makes more oomph. You have to use the 'Vette arms as they support the hubs, or some models need two trailing arms that have to be positioned correctly and the correct lengths to keep geometry right. The Jag axle just uses a simple single trailing arm that is best replaced with a tubular four link type with screw-in 5/8" hole urethane bushed rod ends. Making a mount for the car body is relatively simple. The advantage of the 'vette is the transverse leaf spring is a bit easier to install than the four coil over shocks, or rather takes up less room. ----------------------------------- Date: Wednesday, August 30, 2006 10:49 AM From: markprice242@xxxxxxxxxxxx I never got into the IRS end of it, Yet. It may well be easier to do a Jag rear then the Vette. On FeeBay right now in ALamaba is the perfect donor car. 1984 Flood Vette, Tuned port pulled and replaced with a Quadrabog, gutted missing interior, supposedly runs, Salvage Florida title, 16" cenetrlines, good skins, It was at like $300 yesterday with two days to go. No reserve. If it goes cheap it would be as clos eto a freee suspension as you can find.
