Bunny.
I do understand that nothing I do will make a
difference. But I choose to practice my silly little
hobby in my own way. Too many bullrides in my youth,
probably. But I promise to keep it short from now on.

Anything you do AMC makes a difference.

Having the car roll into Town while new and
future car nutts scratch their ear makes the difference -
you've presented them with a Totally New Experience -
and you can't do that - even in the back seat of a

The Best Car Memories I have are of Vehicles I knew

first car @ age 12.

That same encounter provided me a ride in a
White '55 NASH Ambassador V8 Coupe -
with Air Con, as I recall wondering what that
upside down dish pan was doing under the
dash where my feet wanted to go.......

So - after all these years I end up with:

1 - 1981 AMC Kammback - Blue

and am looking at : .............

Tell me that anything we do has no value
or impact for AMC s 'standing' in the Hobby
and I'll advise > there is no 'standing' -
just people picking up GMs or Fords or
AMCs for more reasons that have nothing
to do with their styling or resale value.

When my Kammback pulls more smiles

I've been reading Super Rod for a few years (hasn't been out long) and don't
remember ever seeing a readers area to write in. But I have seen
corrections made and if people write in and let them know the error made
(halfway politely) I'm sure there will be something written. I've written
them informing them of the error made and if more from the list do so (only
takes a moment) they might print a correction. The magazine was started by
racing legend Johnny Dianna in his garage and is very informative. One big
drawback is there are large sections on product availability (read
advertising) in a few of the mags during the year.

AMC dialoge, have talked to a body shop just a couple of blocks from my
house and the Javelin will be going in for a face lift. Hopefully to have
it done by Kenosha next year.

The interesting AMC content: "In-Place moved several years ago into a big
warehouse on the foundations of the defunct American Motors factory, where
autoworkers once worked on Ramblers and Pacers."

The article says the company is in Milwaukee; so I would assume they're
referring to the old AMC body plant.

Anybody have photos of the place, maybe before and after?

I don't know about "wouldn't be hard", though there are some
alternatives that would surely help. Diesel options, maybe even a
hybrid for the big one. At least it looks like they are doing something
right for a change -- there's a four door Wrangler coming out. Cheap to
build, rugged, and should be popular. If only they'd keep the 4.0L for
it! Maybe they'll offer the 4.7L V-8 as an option. I'm not real happy
with the 3.7L (3.8L?? whatever...) V-6 as the main powerplant. Well,
the four will probably be the base power plant though. I like that a
lot better than that new FWD/4WD "baby" Jeep that's similar to a Ford
Escape.

I agree Kim, but we still need to correct major mistakes. Even some
minor ones, though I wouldn't get to nit picky - I'd let pass a 61
American identified as a 63, or a 71 Javelin identified as a 72-3-4,
but not a 70 Javelin identified as a 71-74, etc. Most of the mistakes
are simply that -- editing to fast or not taking the time to fully
investigate. I've made minor mistakes before, but editing an all AMC
publication and being somewhat knowledgeable about AMCs I don't make
that many. We still need ot correct those unbelievers. If we don't
care, why the hell should they? I don't buy the "if we complain to much
they may stop publishing anything about AMC" theory either. The
complaints let the editors know that AMC people are reading the
articles -- their magazines. Only a small percentage will complain or
comment, so that tells them that there are a lot more AMC people out
there reading the articles. If you have readers that care, you have
articles that sell magazines.

I agree with Frank. What happens to the poor kid who falls in love with that "Studebaker Lark" and can't find one, does a web search, Humm doesn't match the picture, "What car is that? I want one and can't find it"!
If we don't tell them when they make misstakes, who will? It takes the people that know the cars to point out this things. Somewhere soemone is saying Oh crap we look like idiots to this people. If they aren't and they don't mention the misstake then assume your money is spent better elsewhere.

several friends have the 3.7l v6, saddle it with an automatic and they say it gets crap mileage. My wife is starting to look forward to a replacement all wheel drive. I don't think the Liberty is going to meet the mpg needs, which leaves us looking towards the compass, [shudder] or moving on to another line.

Last week fee-bay found it in their hearts to have a 1/2 price sale, that
means, it was only 1/2 price to list most things. Sort of a Rambler
Mentality day, like they have had before like 5 cent listings and 10 cent
listings. So what might cost you 35 cents usual to list was only 17 cents,
which means momma has toll booth change. So I emptied several files, all
sorts of stuff from sheetmetal, emblems, NOS owners manuals and books for
many years, posters, there is stuff in there from mid 50s Nash to 88 Eagle.
And most of it cheap so I can clear out most of this stuff in my garage!

With that in mind, most, no, all 369 auctions will end in 7-10 hours,
depending on your time zone. Go look thru them, the link is below, maybe you
see something you like or want. Thanks should you bid, some of the items I
have are one of a kind in there also!

Well, you asked:

My 80 Spirit is sitting at the front curb for sale.
No takers, at $500 so I may donate it to charity when
I return from Speed Week in Utah next week. Sad.

The 63 Classic wagon I picked up in Nevada last month
is in paid storage here in town. Gotta bring it home
when there's room for it.

My 77 Gremlin X is still waiting for a carburetor and
for the seats to be done, then I must order carpet for
it.

My 73 Javelin 304/auto which has fresh paint, new
vinyl top, carpet and seats will be for sale later
this month. I'm just not enjoying this car.

I'm picking up a 69 Javelin from the central valley
later this month. It will be for sale locally and
will go on Ebay if it doesn't sell right away.

I'm parting out a 77 AMX 304/auto. Lots of parts are
still available, but crossmember, rear end and motor
plates are spoken for (me).

I need to bring home a 63 440 hardtop I purchased last
month.

There is more, but I won't bore you.

You got me there Stu! Of course, I could always convert the steering
