I had a 75 Chevy Nova with the first year HEI
distributor.  The problem with the 75-only distributor
I have been told is that the bushings for the advance
weights were subject to wear, thus affecting the
distibutor performance.  GM corrected it by the 76
model year.  I had to purchase a rebuilt distibutor
for my car.
