Re: [AMC-List] first cars

At 15 years old I bought a 1964 Tempest custom convertible in boxes,
literally boxes of parts.

Subject: [AMC-List] first cars

My first car was 1959 Rebel wagon. It needed rod bearings and it was
basically fix it or walk. I paid $75, we dragged it home, I pulled the
pan and had a guy with a portable crank turner turn the rod jounals (are
those still around?). New bearings and I was good to go. All this was
done on a dusty drive way. I drove that car for years.
Growing up if I wanted a car I had to see what car was available in the
family stable......Russ
