I'd fix it this way. Snip out the offending connector laeving some Tail at the connectors. Replace that old time connector with a Weatherpac late model desgn connector. You can then make a short patch connector to plug in to go fromt eh weatherpac connector to the original design hsould you ever need to get one in in a hurry and throw the jumper in your tool kit or glovebox. The weatherpac is a much better connector than the old prestolite design. A friend uses them on his Ford Motorcraft ignitions all the time as the 70's desgn connectors are prone to breakage and corrosion. -- Mark Price markprice242ATadelphia.net Morgantown, WV ---- Kim Bueler <kimbueler@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > Joe, I don't know if that is the same problems that my '75 Gremlin had > before we spliced the wire but if it is, when this wire decided to get flaky > it would also do it on the fly, there were many times before I found out > what the problem was that I would be driving down the highway and boom, no > power whatsoever, the car just shut down. > > So you might want to re-think the only "no-fire" situation. > > Of course your mileage may vary. > > Regards, > Kim Bueler - '75 Gremlin X 360 V8 > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "JOE FULTON" <piper_pa20@xxxxxxxxxxx> > To: <amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx> > Sent: Monday, July 10, 2006 9:49 PM > Subject: [AMC-List] Fire in the Hole > > > > > > Interestingly this car has the BID prest-no-lite > > ignition system and the ignition wires to the > > distributor were never soldered on this car IAW the > > service bulletin.
