AOL users, you will need to most strenuously request that AOL that allow
your AMC-list.com email to arrive in your inbox! Read carefully...

AOL has decided to "decline" accepting mail from the AMC-list server.
I'm not sure precisely how this will play out, but it is possible that
AMC-list members with AOL email addresses may not recieve some or all
AMC-list postings.

The AMC-list has (or had...) a hundred or two AOL customers signed on.
When amc-list.com send that many email message to AOL, they assume -- up
front -- that it is spam. They are the only site I know of that does
this. I preemptively filled out a form requesting "permission" to send
email, and they declined.

It's very frustrating; there is no appeal process, except to "ask again
at a later date". There is no claim whatsoever of any ill behavior on
AOLs part. No spam has ever originated from this server, under any
domain, at any time, and it's an "old" server (pre-1994).

AOL users, you will need to most strenuously request that they allow
your AMC-list.com email.

(It's a true corruption of the internet, most intentionally squeezing
out smaller players to eliminate "competition" by pointlessly raising
the "pay to play" bar. It won't end until it's turned into cable TV.)

Hello fellow AMCer's! I have a 69' AMX I will be selling.I bought this car
to be a daily driver, but it is just two much for that. The guy that had it
before me set this car up to be a street/strip monster! I am not a racer so
I had a racer buddy tell me what a lot of stuff was on the car and what the
things where for.I was told when I bought the car if I lower the tire
pressure to 5 psi, it will stand the wheels. Very Fast! It is about mid/high
11's. Factory 390 auto. The 390 has a torquer intake and a 750 double pumper
and it drinks it all! This appears to be the original engine. It has the
original chrome valve covers with the id tag. I never looked up the code,
but it has an ""x"" in the tag and vin. It has a 727 with a 3000 stall. The
rear is a 3:54 posi. Whatever way you want to go with this car, you can. It
is factory BBO as well, but is painted white w/blue stripes. SO much to list
with this car! Lower quarter panels have been replaced. Floor pans are
solid. The trunk is the most disappointing part of the car. It has a nice
square hole cut for a fuel cell and some rust. But it's not so bad, I've
seen worse. I will be taking pices this week. If you are an AMC racer, this
car is for you!!! If you are a guy looking for a high end AMC to restore,
this car's for you!!!This guy new what he was doing, and he didn't totally
molest this car.Runs on pump gas, too. He was an AMC guy for sure. I am
trying to find what I was looking for before I bought the car, a Gremlin X!
I am located in Central Florida. E-mail or call. Thanks, Eddie! Brad

Looking for 4spd center console for 67 Rebel SST, these could be found in
67-68 Ambassadors, 67-68 Rebels, and 67 Marlins. I have the console and
really only need the 4spd bezel but will buy whole console if together.
Follow this link for a picture (middle) of console.

I'm not sure the headlight switch will work, but I've done such an upgrade. It's not exactly easy. I used a mid 50s Chrysler wiper motor on my 63 American. It stuck out a good bit further than the vacuum motor, but the motor on the Americans is right under the cowl vent on the outside, not buried behind the heater housing like it is on the big cars. I took a couple of the vent slots out, pushed up the wire, then covered with body filler. Once painted the slight bulge was hardly noticeable -- only a couple people commented on it over the 10 or so years (and several shows) I had the car.

On the big cars this simply isn't an option because of the way the motor is mounted. It's really squeezed in! But there is a neat junkyard solution! You need the wiper motor, pivots, and cables from a Jaguar, MG, or other British car -- including a Metropolitan. These use a motor mounted off to one side with a drive cable. The cable and pivots are sort of like a rack and pinion -- the cable is the rack and moves back and forth, the pivots are the pinions and do the same. One of the pivots can easily be removed and mounted upside down from it's original position. That will give wipers moving to and away from each other instead of parallel. The only problem might be that the cables aren't long enough on the smaller cars, but should be fine on the Jaguar. The motor can be mounted anywhere in the car or undeer the hood. The cable is flexible enough to go around a curve if necessary. Several aftermarket systems are based on similar components.

As for the switch, and three or four position rotary or push-pull switch will work. I got one from a mid 70s Ford truck for my 63 Classic and mounted a spare knob from some other dash switch. You can use a standard three position switch (off, low, high) and forget connecting park. I ended up disconnecting the park function on my car when something went wrong in the park circuit anyway. Once I turned the wipers on they wouldn't go off until I shut the car off and it sat for a while.

Subject: [AMC-List] electric wiper motor upgrade? (

Hi, Guys:
I'm curious if any of you have upgraded from vacuum to
electric wipers on a '58 - '62 10 series. I was
looking at the so-called "universal" motors at JC
Whitney but am concerned about whether and which one
will fit. Not a big fan of the vacuum wipers (they
are either painfully slow or dizzyingly fast, and it
takes too much fiddling to get them at a perfect
speed!)

I have my '62 wagon's wiper motor exposed and figued
now's as a good a time as any to replace it.

I was thinking I could pull a headlight switch from my
parts car and use that in place of the wiper pull
know, that way my dash would still look right.

The headlight doors (the part you have to remove to change a headlight) are
the same for all 1967-69 models. Rogues do have a molding that is specific
to them for 1967 mounted at the front of the fenders. They are group
12.075, part numbers 448-4000 (right) and 448-4001 (left).

Reproduction Rogue emblems are available. Kennedy American
(http://www.kennedyamerican.com) and Galvin's (http://www.ramblerparts.com)
carry them.

A neighbor came to me as I was working on my wagon and
said the local yard just got in a nice white Hornet
with a real clean interior. I high-tailed it down
there and saw a 77 AMX with a spotless interior being
ham fisted into position by the yard clown operating a
fork lift. You can imagine where the two forks were
positioned!!
This car is fully equiped and a 258-2v, auto. I
removed the AM-FM radio, center dash piece and both
outside mirrors. I will be returning for more stuff
later.
I am keeping the grill and windshield (staight as a
pin), sill plates (they look new) and the carpet
(black, not a stain, hole or tear on it). I'm offering
the following to off set my costs as the guy is not
being easy;
2x2 gauge pod- $75
AMX dash with tach- $75
AT floor shifter- $50
Disc brakes- $150
The interior is black with white seats, but the seats
have a single tear in each bottom. They can be mended
easy enough as the seats are not busted and they are
real clean. The whole car looks well cared for.
Reply with your zip code for shipping costs.
The wheel flares are still there.....Russ

I listed my 1969 Ambassador SST on ebay tonight, this is the direct link to
it:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4630772691
No reserve, someone can fly in and drive home and then drive daily to boot!

Tomorrow a 68 AMX goes on also at no reserve.
