" From: Tom Jennings <tomj@xxxxxxx> " " I can't figure out how to spec rear wheel cylinders for my 1970 Hornet. " The car had front drums, I switched to Bendix disks, so the rear wheel " cylinders are now too large in diameter. " " I bought replacements last year, when I went to install them a month ago " I found they don't fit the backing plates -- I have Wagner wheel cyls " and I need bendix. " " The rear axle and backing plates are 1970, AMC15, was a 232 auto trans. " Anyone know the aftermarket part number for these things? I can't find " my notes on bore diameter on my computer, I think they're at home in the " notebook. from partsamerica: http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductList.aspx?parttype=232&ptset=A&searchfor=Wheel+Cylinder it looks like you need either 7/8" bendix #33620 or 13/16" bendix #33504. i'm kind of irritated at partsamerica. they make you specify which engine etc you have, then they disregard this information and show -all- wheel cylinders for the car, 6 or v8. because of this i was driving around for years on the wrong rear cylinders while the mechanic who put them in insisted they were right. there are also mistakes all over the place, like bendix #33436 which look like they shouldn't be on the '70 hornet page because they're listed as "63-64 amc" until you click on the 'see all vehicles this product fits' page - and then it claims there's a "4bbl 232 vin M"! it is helpful, but it could be better. ________________________________________________________________________ Andrew Hay the genius nature internet rambler is to see what all have seen adh@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx and think what none thought
