I don't remember where. Anyway. The thread disscussed running the GM trans on a homamde controller and it pretty much said that it would work similar to yours. However you loose engine braking unless you manually shift into 1, 2 or 3 unless tha manual shifter is in those detents. The guy writing the thread was trying to build a shift controller that would allow him to use game controller type shift buttons and upshift and down from the steering whell. He figured out it couldn't be done without getting an elctronic shifter to move the actual shift lever in conjunction with the solenoids. Fluid passages in the valve body controlled by the manual valve controll engine braking. Bummer. The downside is you have to change the gears once it's in park. I don't mind -- I get better mileage by watching my vacuum gauge and tach, then shifting accordingly -- especially when towing. One of the GM stand alone TCMs could probably be re-wired to work, but that depends on how close the GM trans is to the Chrysler in function (meaning how the solenoids are arragned for shifting). They could surely be reprogrammed to work. Maybe one of the TCM companies would be interested if enough people wrote and suggested such? Jim, your 67 wagon has a six or 290? I'm assuming a six since it would be way easy to drop a bigger V-8 and TF trans inplace of a 290! -- Frank Swygert Publisher, "American Independent Magazine" (AIM) For all AMC enthusiasts http://farna.home.att.net/AIM.html (free download available!)
