Re: '62 Rambler differential question

Justin,
The first number is the tooth count on the pinion gear, the second is the ring gear tooth count.

The ratios are:
41/13 = 3.15:1

37/9 = 4.11:1

I brought home a '62 Rambler parts car and have begun
disassembling it. The differential on the parts car
has a tag on it that says 13/41.

The car that I'm parting this one into (also a '62)
has a tag on its differential, but it says 9/37.

Are these tags gearing ratios? If so, can anyone
explain them to me?

Both cars are 196s with 3 speed OD transmissions.

Thanks guys!

- Justin
