eagle shifter problem

Paige's 88 Eagle shifter cratered tonight at Sam's when she was picking up some portraits. The shifter goes back and forth on the floor. I crawled under the car but with limited light from flashlight could only determine some bracket that holds the rod to the trans was broken. Anyone have a spare. Also need a driver side headlight door for same car as someone backed into her at work and broke that small piece. She has the worse luck.

I pulled this off the Eagle Nest website as I am unfamiliar with Eagles:

It is NOT the item highlighted. It looks like possibly the item between #26 and #27 in that illustration, again I was just going by flashlight. We ended up pulling it home about 3 miles away with old Bessie the 72 Ambassador SST wagon...much to Jacob and Noah's delight who rode with mom pulling me.

I might buy a whole shifter if anyone has one. This had some little cable.....with small rod....inside it laying there. So for the past month you could easily shift it in any gear "on the fly" and the metal brace facing upwards had been hallow.

For what it is worth my 82 Eagle wagon has over 100K on it with cratered shifter, this seems to be some sort of weak spot on Eagles? I fixed that one in early 90s with small coat hanger. I found this thread off the Eagle Forum:
http://forums.amceaglenest.com/index.php?topic=766.0
which it seems no one knows for sure if these had a cable, rod, or plastic in them or whatever happened to be in the parts bin that day.

So if someone can elaborate it would be appreciated and if someone has a small bracket, possibly shifter, and headlight door, please let me know condition, price, email me at eddiestakes@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx and thanks for all who might know these boogers better than me, would like to get this thing fixed quickly.
