Unless I can find a good low-mileage or rebuilt 232 or 258, long block, we're gonna buy a new car. I simply don't have the time nor inclination to rebuild a motor -- it'll take me months. I have FAR TOO MUCH to do as it is. It'll probably take a week for State Farm to decide on the stolen car; either unrecovered, or recovered repairable, or recovered ruined. Until that time we're in limbo. When/if the time comes (I assume we are NOT getting the car back in repairable condition at this point) I'll want to move fast on either a new motor and trans (I have a rebuildable 904) or another car. If we get a car, it'll be 1972-1979, to get a 232/258 and Torqueflite. Hornet, Gremlin, Spirit. It's got to be a reliable daily driver. We should have $4000 to work with. I'd consider a Borg Warner trans car if it's been rebuilt in recent memory. Won't have to be a flashy model, four doors OK, reliability will be key. > > On February 14, 2006 Tom Jennings wrote: > > > Not a good month for vee-hickles. > > > > 1.
