1966 American 440 side trim

Can anyone tell me if the side trim on the 66 440 cars is aluminum or
stainless? It looks like it might be aluminum but I haven't removed a piece
of it yet to tell. I want to get it replaced or refurbished if at all
possible. Some previous owner used sandpaper or steel wool on a section of
it and rerally scuffed it up. The way the rest is scratched is what makes me
think it is aluminum.
