Frank the 77 AMX flairs are made to flow with the body and blend into it. The 78 Concord AMX & Eagle flairs look like a cheap after thought add on from JC Whitney in my opinion and look that way unfortunately. They could be made to look better with a contrasting color to the body. The 77 AMX flairs look like they were designed for the car. The overall impact of the car being it is already orange if quite an eye catcher. A few subtle details that no one would notice like the shaved bumper bolts and painted bumpers and 77 AMX flairs and rear window louver painted the body color, no AMX decals or stripes to set off the car and keep the less knowledgable AMC fan trying to figure out what makes the car stand out. My yellow Hornet has been flamed, striped, louvered and flared since 1978, a cop magnet!!!!. Subtle but striking is my theme for the orange car. The only thing I may go for other than the stock factory pin stripe is a set of ghost flames on the hood in the pattern of my yellow car that I designed and painted in 1978. I can also sympathise with you about cost over runs on a project. Even though I spent way more than I expected, what would have I have gotten if I bought a cookie cutter 4 door front wheel drive ricer for he same money? I have a car I like and can fix and am not one of the many stepford car drivers out there or people into hot rods where the drive train in 99% of all the cars no matter what brand is a Chevy 350/350. One other point that makes all my car guy friends jealous is I don't have to answer to my wife!!!!!!! "Doc"
