On mine I blasted with medium grit Black beauty blasting slag, It's pretty rough stuff! Then I feathered and ground the loose chrome with a grinder with 60 or 80 grit disc, I forget which. Then I primerd with high build urethane primer and sanded and filled all imperfections, anothe coat of primer and sand and sprayed with Dupont Acrylic enamel, no clear, no flex additive. They have held up well. One or two small chips, no peeling. I would not sand the bumper at all after blasting it. Leave it as rough as you get it. You want the primer to bite good. Use good non shrinking primers and fillers and you will be good to go. The hornet should look like a big bad car with body color bumpers, very nice indeed. I even repaired rust outs on mine. I wish the Ambassador would look right with body colored bumpers, but alas, I fear that would not be the case at all! -- Mark Price markprice242ATadelphia.net Morgantown, WV >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Date: Mon, 30 Jan 2006 22:01:34 -0500 To: mail@xxxxxxxxxxxx From: Matt Haas <mhaas@xxxxxxx> Subject: Re: Chrome Bumper Painting You may want to check with your paint supplier on recommended prep. You'll probably need to sand the blaster area since sand blasting leaves a pretty rough surface. Matt
