Re: Archives on Empty

As Matt mentioned in a previous post, the archives are dumped every year and restarted due to storage space restrictions. If you really need those posts contact Ralh Ausmann (ralph.ausmann@xxxxxxxxx) about an archive CD. It will go back to 1998, so it's a very nice resource.

But I can tell you, if you're building a revver or planning on boost, forget it! The webs are thinner in the 360 block, so it's not as stiff in that area. The slightly thicker sidewalls likely help a bit though. Other than that, the only thing you have to do is notch the bottoms of the bores to clear the counterweights of the 390/401 crank. There should be 0.020" clearnace between the edge of the weights and the block. At least that's the clearance I recall was recommended by some engine builders. Rod journal diameter is larger for the 390/401, and the big end width is just slightly smaller than the 360. I would assume you'd use 390/401 rods and pistons though, so as long as the pistons match the deck height (1970 or later pistons) there should be no problems.
