re: Donation for List

Frank,

When you're looking, I would say an important feature is to have an integrated list archive so we don't have problems with external archive sites (like AMXfiles.com) getting un-subscribed and people assuming the list is down. Having this would also cut down on some of the confusion in the past about who owns what when there are problems (for example, when the archives on AMXfiles.com quit working, people post to the list about it instead of sending a message to Jim Stone). It would also be nice if archive items stuck around forever instead of going away after a year. Lots of valuable info has publicly disappeared because of that.

Fair enough Nick! Hard to say for sure until I decide on a service -- range is from $6-$15 a month depending on features and band width. I'll add band width as necessary, but we really don't use that much now. So average is $120 a year. As I stated before, I'll pay for multiple years in advance depending on donations so there may not be a request for donations for 2-3 years (or more) again. I'm not going to suggest an amount -- I know some are unable to donate, and that's fine -- been there, done that myself!! I'll keep the doors open anyway.

Frank,

It might help if we knew how much the new hosting
service will cost for the year. Please post the list
expenses so that we can decide how much to donate
based on what is needed. This will also give us a
better appreciation for what we might have taken for
granted over the years.

Thanks,

Nick Alfano
