We got hit with about 2 inches drifting with very high winds and some ice under it here in lower N.Y., up north some places got 6-8 or even 10 inches. They can keep it. By tuesday with the warm weather back and with rain forecast it will all be gone again by wednesday. With both Hornet's in different shops I have a project to work on for my orange Hornet. Restoring the 2 aluminum door sill plates. I picked the best 2 out of the 6 I have. So far in 3 days I have about 9 hours in just one picking out and straightening 32 years of dings and dents. Then comes the hard part sanding out all the scratches with 400#,600#,1000# and crocus cloth sand paper. Next is to polish them with a metal polish I have from Eastwood Restoration called AUTOSOL. They will then look like chrome. A final touch of non original AMC but a personal touch of detailing by me is to paint the recessed American Motors letters on the sill plate orange to match the car. At best even with all this work the best I feel I can achieve is they will look 80-85% as good when they were new. But unfortunately they will have to do unless I can find a NOS set, and then my wife won't be allowed in the car because she will step on the pass side one for sure. But then again this is not going to be a 100 point show car when I am finished, but a really exceptional nice driver. My son say's they make repo ones for his Javelin's. :-(((~~ "Doc"
