Stupid idea

O.K. I got everything paid off.
I'm surfing thru eBay and see this 79 Hatchback V-8 Concord with 28,000 miles on it and I think, wow a non discript low mileage AMC that I could use for a daily driver in the summer.
My question is, What kind of fuel mileage did the V-8 Concords actually get???
Would anyone hunt me down and kill me if I put a set of AMC rally wheels on it and dual exhaust with nice rumbly, not loud,just rumbly! Mufflers on it?
Since this seller had zero feedback is there anyone in or around Poughkeepsie, NY
that could take a peek at the thing for me.
Last question, Can anyone come down here and protect me from my wife if I actually buy this car or one like it??? :]
