Jim; I had both V8 xmembers side by side once and the
differences are very evident. The big frame xmember
(not the Ambassador, a critter all by itself) is about
1/2 inch wider at each end, or a little more than an
inch total. The bolts will not line up.
Also, there is a more pronounced dip in the Javelin,
Rebel, Matador (wide body) than the American, Gremlin,
etc (small frame).
You will need the small frame which is the American to
Spirit lines. You can mount a plate to the I6 Xmember
and if you have the shorter engine plates this will
work. With the shorter plates one V8 bisquit bolt will
actually go into the I6 Xmember, so you just sandwich
a plate inbetween the two. It works untill you can
locate the proper stuff.
Or you can take the V8 installed in the car with tall
plates and the I6 xmember to a welder with a hoist,
and he can set you up (tow it in).....Russ
